Comparex makes Best appointment

Software licensing reseller appoints Richard Best as UK general manager

Comparex has snared former Bytes Software Services executive Richard Best as its UK general manager, a move the software licensing reseller insists will aid its managed services push.

Best (pictured) has 20 years' experience in the software and services industry and prior to joining Comparex spent nine years at Bytes Software Services where most recently he was services director. He also spent six years at Teksys where he was software services director.

"We are delighted to have Richard on board, as we continue to transform our business and focus on being a global managed services provider," said Maarten van Montfoort, vice president of Northwest Europe at Comparex.

"Richard brings a great wealth of services expertise to the business, which is hugely important as we look to nurture more contractual, rather than transactional, relationships with our clients.

"We have already successfully launched a number of global managed services and we plan to roll out more as we continue to change the balance of our business."

Comparex posted UK revenues of £72.5m in its last financial year on record, for the 12 months ending 31 March 2016.

Best said he left Bytes on good terms and is excited by landing the Comparex role.

"From speaking with the senior management team, they have a clear vision of where they want the company to go and I wanted to be a part of it," said Best.

"Comparex has the global presence, technical skills and expertise to deliver a complete global managed service, and I believe that will be an attractive proposition for many organisations as they continue their cloud journey."
