Arrow ECS revenue dragged down by stuttering Americas

European sales jump 16 per cent, but Americas declines two per cent

Arrow ECS saw its revenue increase in Q3, but a decline in Americas sales restricted the distributor to modest growth.

The firm reported a revenue jump of 2.8 per cent for the three months ending 30 September 2017, to $2.1bn.

European sales jumped 15.6 per cent to $624m, but the larger Americas division saw sales drop 1.8 per cent to $1.5bn.

Arrow Electronics CEO Michael Long said that distributor expects cloud sales to contribute to a return to form over the coming quarters.

"Continued growth in our infrastructure software and cloud portfolio, along with growth in servers, drove sales higher this quarter," he said.

"We remain confident in our strategy to return to profitable growth in Enterprise Computing Solutions."

Meanwhile the wider Arrow Electronics business, which couples Arrow ECS with the larger components business, recorded its best ever Q3.

Revenue was just under $7bn, up 17 per cent on the same period last year.

The components arm reported a revenue of $4.9bn, up 24.6 per cent.
