Distie consolidation continues after Westbase's double deal
Distribution group has snapped up Control Limited and MS Distribution this year
Westbase Group promises new channel offerings after acquiring Control Limited and then MS Distribution in the second half of the year.
Acquired this month, MS Distribution specialises in wide and local area wireless networking and is the largest UK Ubiquiti Networks distributor.
As for the addition of Control Limited in October, it focuses on automotive, fleet and IoT application development, and is best known for its TLM-PRO cellular telemetry modem.
Fresh acquisitions aside, The Westbase Group consists of distributors Westbase Technology and Westbase Technology Solutions. The former supplies 4G LTE, wide area wireless technologies and hybrid networking, while the latter considers itself a services provider.
"The addition of MS Distribution to the Westbase Group allows us to expand our wireless market operations as their focus on wide and local area networking technologies directly complements the group's current portfolio," said Sacha Kakad, managing director of the Westbase Group. "Their channel focus and market approach is very similar to our other businesses."
Discussing the Control acquisition, Kakad said Control has already worked with Westbase to deliver various embedded applications for customers, including vehicle telematics integration and network monitoring for channel partners.
"Bringing Control into the Westbase Group doesn't just enable us to target new industry applications, but also extends our core competencies," he said.
"Enabling us to deliver new solutions into our channel, Control development services complement those capabilities already available via our existing product portfolio."
"We're excited to see what we can achieve together now that the companies have a formal alliance and shared resources."
Ian Bushrod at MS Distribution claimed joining the Westbase Group will dramatically expand its capabilities across technical, marketing and sales.
"While the companies within the group will continue to operate on a relatively independent basis, we still expect the relationship to enable us to deliver into new projects and customers - especially in the enterprise space. The industry experience and reputation of the Westbase Group will definitely enhance our offering," said Bushrod.
The acquisition of Control also sees its founder, Nathan Sanders, become technical director of the Westbase Group.
"The extended resources, competencies and in-depth networking knowledge of the Westbase Group will mean Control can deliver projects quicker, and allow us to be faster to market with the latest in communication innovations for our target sectors," said Sanders.
"The industry experience and long-standing reputation of the Westbase Group of companies will enhance our offering, opening up many new possibilities for Control."
