MSP Coretx forced to rebrand following legal wrangle
AIM-listed firm becomes IDE Group today
AIM-listed MSP Coretx has been forced to rebrand as IDE Group following a trademark dispute with IT services firm Coreix.
The Coretx brand name was launched last year, following the merger of C4L and Selection Services. The name had previously been used by C4L for its data network, styled as CoreTX.
Coreix however objected to the rebrand and started legal proceedings, with a judge in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court ruling on 11 July that Coretx had infringed Coreix's copyright, according to Coreix's legal firm JP Mitchell.
IDE Group CEO Andy Ross said in a statement: "As you may be aware, during 2017 we have been involved in a trademark dispute with an IT services business called Coreix.
"The legal process has concluded with us being instructed to no longer use the name Coretx and to change the names of all our entities that contain the name Coretx.
"We have taken this outcome as an opportunity to break from the past and select an all-new identity. We have chosen IDE Group as our new name. This fresh start orientates us to look forwards, as we continue to develop our business."
The new name is owned by one of IDE Group's shareholders and stands for Interactive Digital Entertainment, although the full name will not be associated with the firm.
IDE Group said that the recently acquired Poole-based 365ITMS group will also be rebranded in 2018.
The firm said on an FAQ webpage that its telephone numbers will remain the same, while email addresses and web domains will generally see "Coretx.com" replaced with "IDEGroup.com".
