Infinigate names Tech Data veteran as CEO

Klaus Schlichtherle takes helm as CEO to replace founder David Martinez

Infinigate has announced that Tech Data's former head of German operations Klaus Schlichtherle will take over the reigns as its CEO, replacing founder David Martinez.

Schlichtherle will start his post at the Swiss-based distributor from 1 April.

Meanwhile, David Martinez will become president of the board.

Commenting on the reshuffle, Martinez called Schlichtherle the right man to drive Infinigate's goal to grow from a €400m to €1bn company in the next five years.

"We are very happy to have won an internationally experienced manager such as Klaus Schlichtherle," Martinez said.

"Infinigate will face another high-growth period with further international expansion and Klaus Schlichtherle brings along the required experience to manage this challenge".

Under Martinez's leadership, Infinigate focused on accelerating growth via acquisition. Last month, he cited its acquisition of Netherlands-based security VAD Crypsys as a strategic move to plug a gap in northern Europe.

Klaus Schlichtherle added: "Infinigate is a strongly growing company in the IT Security sector and I am very much looking forward in taking over this exciting task of further expanding and developing the group."

Infinigate claims to now cover "close to 80 per cent of the western European IT security market's potential", having operations in 20 countries.
