Tech Data boosts funding for SME resellers

Distributor trebles credit available to SMB partners to £1m

Tech Data has trebled the credit available to SMB resellers to £1m as it looks to facilitate growth for smaller partners.

The Credit Elevator scheme works by offering resellers an initial credit line of £5,000, which will be increased automatically if the partner uses 75 per cent of the credit in a month, and pays the credit on 30-day terms.

Nick Tiltman (pictured), credit services director at Tech Data, said: "Our SMB sales growth has continued to gather pace and by extending the upper limit on the Credit Elevator we are making it easier for resellers to grow.

"It means they don't have to worry about securing higher and higher levels of credit - as new opportunities emerge they can take advantage, knowing that we will support them.

"We are removing barriers for customers who want to grow."

Tiltman returned to Tech Data last year, after originally heading up the distributor's credit strategy until 2009.

On his return, the credit boss said he would not be "risk averse", and highlighted SMB partners as "a huge part" of his focus for his first year back in charge.
