Hunt for new chief executive begins with Bill Halbert set to leave

KCOM is searching for a new chief executive, with Bill Halbert set to leave once a successor has been found.

In a filing with the London Stock Exchange, KCOM announced that it has started the process of recruiting a new CEO, with Halbert staying with the firm until an "orderly handover" of the role has taken place.

Halbert's departure comes soon KCOM announced that Gary Young, the boss of its Hull and east Yorkshire business which provides the telephone lines to the area, will be stepping down.

KCOM chairman Graham Holden said: "Bill has made a significant contribution to the development of the group, particularly since his appointment as executive chairman in 2009.

"Under his leadership, the business has been fundamentally strengthened in terms of its financial position and its reputation in its chosen markets.

"On behalf of the board, I would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment to KCOM, and for his continued support in delivering an orderly transition of leadership."

Halbert has been CEO at KCOM since 1 April 2014.

KCOM announced last month that its revenue will likely fall short of forecasts in its current fiscal year, but EBITDA is expected to beat expectations.
