Ignition becomes SailPoint's first UK distributor

Identity vendor brings in two-tier channel with distribution agreement

Ignition Technology has become identity governance vendor SailPoint's first UK distributor.

SailPoint - which partners with the likes of Computacenter, BT and Logicalis in Europe - provides solutions around compliance, access, password management and data governance through its open identity platform.

Ignition chief strategy officer Sean Remnant (pictured) said: "This is a significant signing for Ignition and represents a fantastic opportunity for our channel partners to work with a recognised market leader in one of the fastest growth areas of security.

"Adding SailPoint's identity management solutions to our portfolio creates tremendous synergies with our existing market-leading vendors and reflects our growing reputation as the go to partner for fast-growth, disruptive, services-oriented cybersecurity vendors targeting market acceleration in the UK.

"According to Verizon's latest data breach report a staggering 81 per cent of cyber-attacks are credentials based, making identity assurance one of the hottest technology areas for enterprise security."

Remnant told CRN that access management has become more accessible over recent years with the release of cloud-based solutions.

Research houses, he explained, expect it to be the second biggest area of security over the next few years, behind only end-point protection.

In its Q4 New York Stock Exchange-listed SailPoint reported a revenue of $67.8m in February, up 53 per cent on the previous year.

SailPoint global channel boss Harry Gould said: "Ignition's service-driven philosophy and value-added mentality, together with an impressive track record in helping innovative cybersecurity vendors penetrate and accelerate market momentum in the UK made them the obvious partner for us.

"Their intimate knowledge, relationship and understanding of the needs of their channel partners, combined with a deep understanding of new technology trends, IT consumption models and business drivers within the enterprise market sets them apart. We're looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship."

Ignition has grown at a rate of knots since its inception in 2015 and is on track to hit £10m in its current financial year, while targeting £20m next year.

Remnant said the key to the growth has been picking the right technology areas and waiting for them to explode.

"If you're trying to be a visionary you need to let the technology have time to come through," he said.

"We're seeing recurring revenue and renewals coming through with the likes of Cylance now which means that customers like it.

"We're also seeing large financials taking our products as well, so we're getting closer to the bigger systems integrators too because it's a more grown-up security proposition."
