Scottish comms provider tops £15m revenue

Public sector success driving Commsworld's sales growth

Scottish telecoms provider Commsworld has reported a record revenue of over £15m after securing a number of large public sector deals.

Commsworld - which has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh - saw turnover for the year ending 31 December 2017 jump 15 per cent to £15m, and is expecting to hit £20m in its current year.

Ricky Nicol, chief executive of Commsworld said: "It has been a terrific year and it's testament to the hard-working team we have that we've enjoyed this record year of growth.

"We're all delighted that 2017 has been the best year in our history. After taking the decision to provide a personal and tailored service to businesses, we've seen more and more clients join us or choose to renew their contracts with us.

"But the real step up for us as a business has been proving that we can deliver excellence on the biggest public sector ICT contracts in Scotland."

Nicol highlighted a contract win with Glasgow City Council as key to future revenue growth, which will see the 23-year-old comms firm transform Glasgow into "one of the world's most digitally advanced cities".

The deal - which is Commsworld's biggest ever - will see the city's connection speeds boosted to 100 times quicker than the UK average.

It will also roll out an IP telephony solution to more than 16,000 council users.
