UKFast on track towards zero per cent gender pay gap
Hosting provider on course to achieve gender pay parity, CEO says
UKFast is on track to achieving a zero per cent gender pay gap, according to CEO Lawrence Jones.
Organisations in the UK with over 250 employees are now legally obliged to publish details of their gender pay gaps.
The Manchester-based hosting provider currently has a mean average gender pay gap of 0.9 per cent - meaning women are paid less than men - and a three per cent pay gap when calculated as a median average.
According to reports, the median average pay gap of all UK companies to have reported their gender pay gaps by the midnight deadline last night is 9.7 per cent.
Jones (pictured) said: "While 0.9 per cent is a small amount, we're working toward ensuring our overall figure for the coming year is zero per cent and I'm confident we are on track for that.
"The gap is seen when taking shift allowance into consideration simply because, despite our best efforts, the datacentre and out-of-hours support teams receiving shift allowances are predominantly male.
"To combat this, we're focused on encouraging more women into tech roles. Our work with girls' schools and education providers in the area is tackling this issue at a grassroots level. It's a programme we started more than 10 years ago."
UKFast says it currently has a 50:50 gender split on its board, as well as more women in senior management roles.
