Palo Alto Networks snaps up Israeli security firm

Security vendor splashes out on end-point detection and response start up

Palo Alto Networks is set to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm Secdo in a move designed to boost its end-point detection and response (EDR) capabilities.

Founded in 2014, Secdo provides a platform for network visibility and analytics, as well as incident response and remediation.

Palo Alto did not disclose details of the deal, biut CEO Mark McLaughlin said: "We believe security operations teams need the most advanced and consistent approach to end-point security.

"With Secdo's EDR capabilities as part of our platform, we will accelerate our ability to detect and prevent successful cyberattacks across the cloud, end point, and network."

Speaking to CRN last year, Secdo CEO Shai Morag said the firm was hunting for channel partners in the UK - specifically dedicated security resellers and managed security services providers.

On the deal with Palo Alto, Morag said: "We founded Secdo to dramatically increase visibility for security operations teams to reduce the time it takes to detect and respond to an alert.

"The combined capabilities of Secdo and Palo Alto Networks will provide customers the capabilities they need to swiftly and accurately detect and respond to cyberattacks."

The deal is subject to closing conditions, with Palo Alto expecting the acquisition to be completed during its third fiscal quarter.
