Leeds reseller LDD Group enters administration

Buyer being sought to secure £8m-revenue IT, comms and managed print supplier's long-term future

Leeds-based reseller LDD Group has gone into administration, with the ill health of one of its directors said to have been a decisive factor to its demise.

Founded in 1993 from the corner of a dairy warehouse in Seacroft, LDD Group specialises in IT, telephony and managed print services, with a turnover of £8m. At its peak, it had revenues of £12m and almost 50 staff, counting Nike among its clients.

Walsh Taylor, which was appointed as LDD's administrator on 19 April, said that LDD is continuing to trade while it seeks a buyer to secure its future.

"Unfortunately, after the ill health of one of its directors - and the unforeseen impact this has naturally caused - the directors felt they were not in a position to carry on themselves," said Walsh Taylor director Mary Taylor.

Founded 25 years ago by Ian Sellars and Paul Hartley, LDD was gunning for £14m revenues as recently as 2015, and in 2013 acquired fellow West Yorkshire-based reseller Compubyte.

The services it offers include IT helpdesk, IT consultancy, network design telecoms, Wi-fi and internet provision, and installation of cybersecurity hardware.

"The priority is very much to sell the company as a viable going concern, safeguarding its future, and retaining as many jobs as possible," said Taylor.

"LDD Group is a family business with a good name, a proven track record, and a national customer base spanning around 30 contracts - particularly in the education and health sectors."
