Pure Technology Group hires former Comparex and Bytes man for southern push

Mike Chambers joins Leeds-based reseller

Leeds-based VAR Pure Technology Group is to open a southern office spearheaded by industry veteran Mike Chambers.

Chambers (pictured), who has previously worked for Bytes and Comparex, said he planned to hire six new sales heads from a soon-to-be-opened location in the south after joining Pure as regional sales director.

Huawei, HP and Microsoft partner Pure Technology Group hit revenues of £22.7m in its latest year, and COO Cliff Fox told CRN that southern expansion had been on the cards for two years.

"We've had [customers in the south] for several year and while we look after them at the end of a phone or video call, and infrequent meetings, it's going to be far better for us to be on-patch and in-region to service those customers," he said. "This has been an aim since we launched the strategy in 2016."

In a Q&A on the firm's website, former Comparex UK MD Chambers cited winning a £36m purchase order from the MoD as among his biggest accomplishments.

"It's always a challenge opening an office in a new geography, but having previously opened a UK office for a German company, and a York office for a Southern-based organisation, opening a southern office is a new and exciting challenge," he added.
