John McAfee to take second tilt at US presidency
McAfee founder to use 2020 campaign as platform to promote cryptocurrencies
McAfee founder John McAfee has announced his intent to run for the 2020 presidency in order to beat the drum for cryptocurrencies.
The controversial businessman - a vocal supporter of the need for the US government to prioritise cybersecurity - failed to secure the nomination of the Libertarian Party in the 2016 contest.
McAfee announced his intent to stand in two years' time on Twitter last night, arguing that his involvement would raise awareness of cryptocurrencies.
McAfee has emerged as a die-hard fan of cryptocurrencies in the past couple of years, and has even announced plans to launch his own physical cryptocurrencies, the McAfee Redemption Unit.
McAfee lost out to eventual Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson last time around, and went onto admit today that he felt he has no realistic chance of winning.
