CrowdStrike announces $1m cyber protection warranty

'It's clear the industry can benefit from more accountability', Crowdstrike CEO claims

CrowdStrike has announced that it will be offering a breach prevention warranty of up to $1m (£748,000) to customers of its EPP Complete solutions package.

With a few rare exceptions, the financial burden for a cybersecurity breach has tended to fall on the customer's shoulders, even if the breach is a result of a flaw in the vendor's product.

Crowdstrike's warranty covers costs incurred while responding to a data breach, including incident response, legal fees, notification and forensic investigation.

The vendor said that the warranty is provided at no extra cost and is structured in a manner that will not put "onerous requirements" on the customer.

The offering is "straightforward and transparent", according to George Kurtz, founder and CEO of CrowdStrike.

"With cybersecurity breaches dominating the headlines every week, it's clear the industry can benefit from more accountability. We are introducing this comprehensive warranty covering many types of attacks - exploits, ransomware, zero-days, etc. This offering is straightforward and transparent with no additional costs, no hidden caveats and no unachievable requirements," he explained.

Adam Thornton, head of alliances at Bytes Software Services, welcomed the news and said that it "bolsters" the partnership between Bytes and CrowdStrike.

"We see this as a rapid way to increase our customer's security maturity, while showing them the value of Bytes by offering new and innovative ways of stopping breaches. We are proud to be the first partner working with CrowdStrike on this in the UK," Thornton said.
