PCM cuts ribbon on new UK office

Northampton base is first PCM-branded building for reseller's UK arm

US giant PCM has followed up a busy first year in the UK by opening its first fully branded office in Wellingborough, Northampton.

Donavan Hutchinson, managing director of PCM UK, told CRN that the Wellingborough site was chosen for the available talent pool in the area.

"We hired a number of people from around the Wellingborough area," he said.

"It made sense for us to put a stake in the ground and invest further into this area, understanding the talent pool that we would be able to pull from."

PCM has a base in Sheffield, which acts as its UK HQ, and offices in Glasgow and Liverpool which it gained through acquisitions.

Hutchinson explained that the new Wellingborough base is the first PCM-branded office in the UK, with the other offices either shared or owned by other companies.

PCM currently has a headcount of 187 in the UK and plans to recruit significantly more with the Wellinborough office, which is big enough to accommodate 30 to 40 new employees, according to Hutchinson.

"This is the first building that we've created that allows us to attract the relevant talent and resources," he said, adding that most of the IT infrastructure was installed by in-house engineers and technicians.

"It's a testament to us being able to showcase to customers exactly what our capabilities are in being able to create an infrastructure from scratch, as well as utilising our partner network for the build-out and cosmetic features in the building," he added.

Hutchinson did not rule out further UK acquisitions, with PCM already acquiring Provista UK and Stack Holdings Technology, but said the main focus is on integrating the new businesses.
