London-based Constor Solutions has appointed Phil Thomas, former Dell EMC business manager at Exertis Hammer, as it looks at record revenue growth for the young company.
Foiz Ahmed, sales director at Constor, told CRN that the reseller tripled its revenue last year from £900,000 to £2.9m, and is on course to break £5.5m in revenue this year.
Ahmed (pictured), who was the first salesperson recruited by Constor two years ago, said that having Dell EMC as its primary partner has helped push business growth. He believes the appointment of Thomas will further nurture the reseller's partnership with Dell EMC.
"Currently my pipeline is bigger than my whole turnover for last year and we're in month three of the year," he said. "We've already hit our target that we need to do for Dell EMC. We're hoping to get to Platinum [partner status] this year as well, which is £4m in revenue, which we feel we will be able to achieve."
Constor was founded in 2013, has a headcount of 15 and currently has consultants based around the country, though Ahmed admits that it is still seen as a technical organisation rather than a commercial one. However, he states that this is Constor's trump card when vying for business.
"Our unique approach to the market is from a technical point of view - understanding customers' requirements and being able to articulate the solution and how that's going to fit [customers' needs]. That's how we win business against the big guys.
"We recently won a massive opportunity against a major competitor because of our technical understanding of the solution, and customers seem to like that approach. We obviously can't go in and say we have 500 people working in five different offices and all that, so the differentiator is we're very technical.
"That's how we've been winning business. It's the fact that we understand and can design and build the solution that would fit the customer's needs and we're winning big deals at the moment."
