Terra gaining server traction after recent BDR partnership with Continuum
German vendor claims to be Continuum's 'solution of choice' when it comes to BDR hardware
Terra Computer's server business has witnessed growth after a recent backup and data recovery (BDR) certification from Continuum, according to sales director Alicia Shepherd.
In June MSP-focused vendor Continuum certified the vendor to fix or replace its hardware, with Continuum itself focusing more on its software, said Alicia Shepherd, who was recently appointed Terra's sales director in the UK.
"Continuum deals with about 300 resellers in the UK but not all of them are on the BDR solution," she explained.
"Of those that are, when it comes to replacing their hardware, we are [Continuum's] recommended solution."
Formerly head of sales, Shepherd (pictured) made the move to sales director at the beginning of last month and said she is loving her new role so far.
"I have released a lot of my customers so it has given me bandwidth to focus on new business and to strengthen some of our strategic relationships with vendors and with new and existing clients," she told CRN.
The Germany-based PC manufacturer established itself in the UK in 2013 and last year it unveiled ambitions to become the tier-two PC brand of choice among UK resellers, and reach £100m revenues within five years.
Shepherd said the UK arm is currently witnessing double-digit growth in its own-brand kit across all categories, including LCDs, tablets and servers.
"We started from a relatively low base in the UK five years ago, but obviously our strategy is working," she said. "Our database of resellers are very loyal. Once they've bought Terra, they stay with Terra."
Shepherd said she hopes to continue the growth Terra is currently witnessing in the UK in order to achieve its revenue ambitions, as well as developing its e-learning platform.
