CDW secured the largest ever G-Cloud deal in Q2 - gov data

Capgemini was the biggest G-Cloud provider in the first half of this year

US giant CDW won the largest ever G-Cloud deal at £25.7m in Q2 this year, according to data published by Crown Commercial Service (CCS).

The transaction in June with the Department of Education saw CDW provide services in the Cloud Hosting Lot of the framework.

The deal went through G-Cloud 9, which in July was superseded by G-Cloud 10.

Previously the largest deal that had been facilitated by G-Cloud saw consultancy firm BJSS transact a £10.6m deal with the NHS in April 2016.

Capgemini was the biggest G-Cloud supplier in the first half of the year, according to the data, winning £38.5m worth of business. CDW was ranked second with £26.8m - the vast majority of which came through that one deal.

Amazon Web Services was just behind CDW, with sales of £26.4m.

IBM meanwhile saw its G-Cloud sales top £8m, while Microsoft's crossed the £5m barrier.

Channel giants Softcat and Computacenter saw H1 G-Cloud sales of £2.8m and £771,810 respectively.

Aside from CDW, the best-performing G-Cloud resellers from CRN's Top 250 VARs research were SCC, Civica and Cloudreach (see graph below).
