Softcat partners with 'leader' in cloud management software
Reseller and vendor claim they can cut a customer's cloud spend by between 20 and 30 per cent
Softcat has partnered with cloud management software provider CloudHealth in a move which the pair claim could reduce customer cloud spend by 30 per cent.
CloudHealth, which was acquired by VMware in August, says that some end users are struggling to keep track of their total public cloud spend and are often being hit by larger-than-expected bills.
The start-up claims its software will aggregate the services a customer is buying and provide an overview of the total amount being spent.
Reseller Softcat will integrate the software into its Cloud Intelligence Service, which provides insight into cloud usage.
Softcat managing director Colin Brown said: "We make it our business to provide our customers with solutions to their IT challenges, [and] getting to grips with the public cloud and its associated nuances is one of those [challenges].
"We partnered with CloudHealth, the leader in multi-cloud management, to complement our pedigree in IT asset intelligence to deliver a service solution that directly addresses the challenge.
"From the very beginning, we were impressed with the CloudHealth team's commitment and the performance of their technology. This partnership will accelerate our business and have a huge positive impact on the lives of our customers."
Softcat and CloudHealth say the combination of the reseller's asset management skills and the vendor's technology could see customers reduce their cloud spent by an average of 20 to 30 per cent.
CloudHealth senior channel director Bob Kilbride added: "Softcat is a leading IT infrastructure solution provider in the UK and Ireland, and we are proud to partner with them to provide an offering that gives organisations tighter control over their cloud, while still realising its many benefits.
"We truly value the opportunity to work with such a deeply respected industry leader to ensure that today's businesses are using the cloud to enable greater levels of innovation and speed."
