Cindy Rose heads up list of tech figures awarded in 2019 Honours List
A number of tech industry figures were recognised in the New Year's Honours List, including Microsoft UK CEO Cindy Rose.
Rose (pictured) was awarded an OBE for her services to UK technology, and social media was abuzz with compliments for the chief exec.
In a reply to a post by Joshua Graff, LinkedIn VP EMEA, Rose said that it was "hard to find the words to express how amazing this recognition feels".
Among Rose's fellow New Year's Honourees is Sage and London Stock Exchange chairman Donald Brydon, who received a knighthood.
Mustafa Suleyman, who co-founded British artificial intelligence (AI) start-up Deepmind - which Google bought for £400m in 2014 - was awarded a CBE for services to the UK tech industry, while Theo Blackwell, chief digital officer for London received an MBE for services to local government digital transformation.
Rose was not the only woman acknowledged for her contribution to British tech.
Amali de Alwis, CEO of coding education initiative Code First: Girls, received an MBE for her services to diversity and training in the tech industry.
Anne Moises, CIO at the directorate for digital in the Scottish government, was acknowledged with an OBE for her services to digital development.
