Former HPE exec rocks up at ECS

Appointment of Mark Farrington as enterprise cloud MD comes as firm reports £100m revenue

Former HPE Pointnext UK boss Mark Farrington has joined IT consultancy ECS as managing director of its enterprise cloud division.

Farrington will lead ECS's cloud business from its London office, and will also spearhead its AWS Connect contact centre transformation business.

He comes to ECS from his former role as HPE Pointnext UK&I VP and general manager.

Farrington (pictured) said: "ECS is recognised by many in the UK retail banking sector as the go-to company for complex transformation programmes.

"With a large team focused on helping customers move their core business to the cloud, and our work on possibly the most advanced deployment of Amazon Connect in the world, I see myriad growth opportunities to help large organisations transform their IT."

Paul Thomson, ECS chief exec, hailed Farrington as a "great fit" for the business, citing his background in IT transformation as an advantage.

"Mark will hit the ground running as new clients look to take advantage of our holistic approach to complex transformations that recognises that the real challenge isn't technology, but rather the pragmatic orchestration of new skills, new processes and new technologies," he stated.

ECS claimed to have hit revenue of £100m for its fiscal 2018 and has now set its sights on hitting £125m turnover this year.

The consulting firm expanded its headcount from 850 to 1,000 in 2018.
