SoftwareONE hints at further acquisitions as Comparex deal closes

Chairman claims completed merger creates 'unprecedented opportunities' for customers

SoftwareONE's mammoth takeover of Comparex has been completed.

News of the acquisition emerged last October, when SoftwareONE claimed that the merger would create a licensing behemoth that would manage €10bn (£8.8bn) in software sales.

Daniel von Stockar, chairman of SoftwareONE, said the acquisition is a continuation of the licensing VAR's business transformation, allowing it to scale and expand in "key geographies".

"By bringing the strengths and talents of both organisations together, we will offer our customers unprecedented opportunities through our global reach, regional expertise, scalability and comprehensive portfolio, all to help them through their digital transformation," he said.

"We will continue to transform the combined company into a leading platform, solutions and services company through organic growth and additional acquisitions of strategic capabilities."

Comparex was ranked 25th in CRN's Top VARs 2018 with turnover of £143.7m, while SoftwareONE placed 26th, generating revenues of £137.9m.

The combined company is now home to 5,500 employees and offers support to customers in 150 countries.

CRN revealed in October that the Comparex name would be slowly folded into the SoftwareONE brand.

Thomas Reich, CEO of Comparex, will support the integration process for the next few months before departing the company.

"It has been a privilege to serve as CEO of Comparex, and following our successful transformation to a managed services player, the company is ready to join SoftwareONE to create a leading global platform, solutions and services company," he said.

"I am confident that SoftwareONE will be a great home to all of COMPAREX's employees, and that through the talents of both organisations, the combined company will be at the forefront of innovation and continue to be an invaluable partner to customers worldwide."
