DaaS in play for over one in five UK organisations, CRN Essential research finds
12 per cent of UK organisations have begun to adopt DaaS, with a further 11 per cent planning to do so, according to CRN's DaaS Adoption Report
More than one in five UK end-user organisations have begun to adopt DaaS or have it in their roadmaps, according to newly released research from CRN Essential.
Device as a Service (DaaS) is being widely touted as the new standard in waiting for the PC market, but to what extent are UK end users really ready to adopt? Up until now, data has been thin on the ground.
That's the central question addressed by DaaS Adoption Report, which is available here exclusively to CRN Essential subscribers.
It draws on the views of over 275 UK IT decision makers to build a picture of whether DaaS is an area channel partners should be prioritising for investment.
According to DaaS' proponents, rolling up the hardware, software and services under a single, monthly contract offers end users multiple benefits around access to new technology, security, support and total cost of ownership, while allowing them to focus on their core business.
But it is unclear whether the majority of end users have fully bought into DaaS' supposed merits, or are even aware of this new way of consuming client technology.
CRN's DaaS Adoption Report seeks to uncover just how receptive end users are towards the concept of DaaS.
What percentage have begun to adopt or have it in their roadmaps, and how does this vary by company size and vertical? What are the key drivers for moving to a DaaS model, and what are the main barriers to adoption? Have those who are already purchasing devices under a DaaS contract had positive or negative experiences?
Although the full report is only available to CRN Essential subscribers, we are able to reveal the top-line finding that, among the 275-plus IT decision makers who took part in the research, 11.9 per cent said their organisation had begun to adopt DaaS, with a further 11.6 per cent saying they hadn't but planned to.
We hope the data and end-user feedback in the report will help to inform the strategies of any channel partner evaluating whether to throw their weight behind DaaS 2019, and - if so - how best to pitch this new consumption model.
