'I made a mistake': Econocom CEO makes incredible admission in investor address

The straight-talking Jean-Louis Bouchard issues brutally honest assessment of why the firm struggled last year

The CEO of Econocom has issued a brutally honest assessment of why the Belgium-based IT services firm's form dipped last year.

€2.8bn-revenue giant Econocom bolstered its UK presence in 2017 by acquiring local LEGO Education, Apple and Google partner JTRS.

Addressing investors following the publication of its full-year 2018 results, Jean-Louis Bouchard (pictured) said his son Robert hired people "lacking experience" into Econocom's management team who were "unable to make decisions".

"I changed the management team and I made a mistake," he told investors, translated from the original French. "My mistake was [seeing] your own children as more beautiful than they are."
