Midwich enters Nordics

Having already acquired in Switzerland and Italy this year, UK AV distributor accelerates its international expansion drive

Midwich has acquired Norwegian counterpart AV Partner, marking the third new country of 2019 for the acquisitive, UK-based distributor.

Following its January acquisitions of Italian Prase and Swiss MobilePro, Midwich has acquired the entire issued share capital of Oslo-based AV Partner, which works with vendors including Epson, Optoma, Casio and Hitachi.

The acquisition of AV Partner marks Midwich's entry into Norway and the wider Nordic region, and builds on an international expansion drive super-charged by its listing on AIM in 2016.

Tore Moe, who founded the business in 2010, will continue to lead the business alongside chairman Arne Norum and MD Olav Frank Dallas.

Initially a UK only distributor, Midwich now has over 900 employees across the UK and Ireland, continental Europe and Asia-Pacific

Last year, it drew £222m of its £573.7m revenues from continental Europe, a 42 per cent annual hike.

Midwich Group managing director Stephen Fenby, said: "The acquisition of AV Partner represents Midwich's first step into the Nordic region, enabling the Group to access a large number of new customers in a significant AV market. We were impressed by the vision Arne, Tore and Olav share to grow the business as part of the Midwich Group and we look forward to beginning work with our new colleagues".

Dallas added: "We are excited about the opportunity of joining the Midwich Group and believe it is the ideal partner to help grow AV Partner. We were especially interested in Midwich's track record of working with specialist AV business, and believe Midwich's global relationships and AV Partner's knowledge and experience in the local market will be a successful combination".
