Stone replaces Academia as HP reseller on huge higher education framework

Stone can now sell HP devices, as well as its own, through the £440m framework

Stone has replaced Academia as an HP Inc reseller on a £440m higher education framework.

The National Desktop and Notebook Agreement (NDNA) allows institutions to buy end-point hardware from a host of vendors including Dell, Lenovo and Acer.

The framework is split into three Lots - desktops; notebooks and mobile devices; and one-stop shop (which amalgamates Lots 1 and 2).

Stone is now an HP reseller on all three Lots, having previously been a supplier on Lots 1 and 3 with its own devices.

A framework document states that the change was made on 15 April.

Stone CEO Simon Harbridge (pictured) said: "I am delighted to be offering HP's products on the NDNA framework.

"Combining Stone's sector expertise and our unparalleled support and service with a comprehensive range of innovative and modern HP devices that has never been stronger, provides a compelling offering that will help institutions unlock learning and research experiences that students, faculties and staff will love."

The NDNA launched in 2017 and is set to run until 31 August 2020. It replaced a previous iteration worth £310m.

Academia confirmed to CRN that it is no longer on the framework.

The reseller said in a statement: "Academia remains an HP Gold partner and is committed to them in our core markets across education and business.

"Due to growth across other multiple frameworks, the decision was mutually agreed to allow for our teams to continue to be focused on delivering a high level of value-added services to our customer base."

Of Stone's appointment, HP channel boss Neil Sawyer said: "Working with reliable channel partners like Stone is critical to HP and we are very pleased to work with them in a sector where the values of our two businesses so closely align.

"HP is committed to furthering cutting-edge technology in education and helping institutions improve learning outcomes and operational efficiency, helping create secure and vibrant campuses of the future."

Acer made a change to its partner line-up on the framework earlier this year, replacing Misco with Centerprise.
