EG Group acquires Preston-based Microsoft partner GB3 and appoints founder Graham Billsborough as CIO

Petrol station operator EG Group has acquired an IT reseller and is retaining its CEO to help its quest of becoming a digital leader in its market.

Blackburn-based EG Group has snapped up Preston-based Microsoft, Citrix, Nutanix, VMware, Veeam partner GB3.

GB3 CEO, Graham Billsborough, who founded the firm in 2012, has been appointed as CIO of EG Group.

Mohsin Issa, co-CEO, EG Group, said: "Graham's technology leadership skills and strong delivery track record will allow EG Group to realise its vision to become a digital leader in the sector.

"We are also committed to continue expanding the GB3 customer base and look forward to seeing the business grow."

Billsborough has held technology leadership roles at firms including AstraZeneca, EDS and Enterprise plc.

GB3 started life with a team of seven in 2012 and was forced to move to larger offices last year after its headcount reached 32.

It lists ISO 27011 consultancy, outsourced IT support and IT strategy review and creation among its core activities.

Boasting partnerships with the likes of ESSO, BP, Shell, Carrefour, Louise Delhaize, SPAR, Starbucks, Burger King, KFC, Greggs and Subway, EG Group employs 30,000 staff at 5,200 sites across Europe, the US and Australia.

Billsborough said: "The combination aligns our expertise in technology management with their leadership in the forecourt retail convenience sector.
