Purchase of MWL Systems marks VAR's 17th acquisition

Elite Group has purchased Microsoft partner MWL Systems, marking its 17th acquisition in 11 years.

The cloud and comms VAR was last year handed a £30m war chest to continue its M&A spree.

The addition of Wrexham-based MWL will add 40 heads to Elite's existing workforce of 146.

"As we look to expand our IT services offering, and more of our customers are using us for both their communications and IT requirements, strengthening our knowledge base, skills and expertise is essential," stated Rob Sims, Elite Group CEO.

"By acquiring MWL Systems, we are gaining experience and knowledge that will underpin our service to customers, as well as help us to continue to expand our business."

Chorley-based Elite ranked 98th in CRN's Top VARs 2018, generating revenues of £40.2m up to its year ending 31 July 2017.

It claimed that it actively looking for IT and communications businesses to buy that complement its existing portfolio.
