Dutch BearingPoint acquires Surrey-based consultancy

Netherlands-based IT services powerhouse grabs public sector consultancy Prederi

IT consultancy BearingPoint has delivered on its vow to bolster its operations in the UK by acquiring Surrey-based Prederi.

Prederi is an IT consultancy founded in 2012 that focuses on the public sector. Its clients include the NHS, local government, the Ministry of Defence and Home Office, among others.

Last year, BearingPoint managing partner Kiumars Hamidian told CRN sister publication Channel Partner Insight that the firm had set its sights on the UK for expansion.

"There's a lot of knowledge, capacity and capabilities we want to use to organically but also inorganically grow the market in the UK," he said at the time.

"Of course there is already a mature market, but we will focus on certain areas where we as BearingPoint are very strong."

The Netherlands-based firm stated that the acquisition bolsters its presence in the UK as well as strengthening public service capabilities.

"With the acquisition of Prederi we are continuing our growth strategy in selected markets with consultancies that are highly focused and strongly differentiated," said Hamidian.

"Prederi's portfolio is a perfect complement to our public service strategy and supports our strategic growth areas."

James Rogers, regional leader for UK&I at BearingPoint, stated: "Joining forces with Prederi is an important step as we continue to broaden our capability footprint in the UK.

"Prederi has a strong strategic, operational and cultural fit with our existing UK business. It is another highly focused acquisition that offers an excellent addition to our portfolio."

Stewart Johns, MD of Prederi, said he was "delighted" with the acquisition.

"Our passion has always been to provide high quality and value for money consulting and training service to UK central and local government and the NHS," he stated.

"Being with BearingPoint will enable us to accelerate our growth sustainably and to enhance and extend what we can do for our clients in today's challenging climate.

"We look forward to working with new colleagues in the UK and Ireland and across Europe to share know-how and develop new solutions for the benefit of the full BearingPoint client base.

"Most of all, we are excited at the development opportunities that will open up for the Prederi team and those who will join us in the future."
