Ingram Micro and AWS bring partnership to UK
Distributor has trained a number of its employees to achieve AWS certification
Ingram Micro is adding Amazon Web Services' (AWS) capabilities to its UK and Ireland portfolio.
The partnership between the public cloud behemoth and the distributor will offer resellers and MSPs in the region a cloud services platform that includes compute power, database storage and content delivery, among other functions.
The move is intended to grow Ingram Micro's infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) capabilities for its channel partners.
"We are excited to be launching AWS in the UK. Over the last few years we have been making substantial investments into our IaaS capabilities, by expanding our team of solution architects, IaaS specialist pre-sales consultants and our Ingram Micro services team," Ingram Micro's UK boss Matt Sanderson said.
"With the addition of AWS to our portfolio, we can offer our depth and scale partners an even more complete suite of cloud offerings, and the technical support behind it, to ensure that they can deliver transformative cloud services to their customers."
The broadliner has been training a number of its cloud consultants to achieve AWS Solutions Architect Associate certificates in anticipation of the UK partnership launch.
Simon Day, services director at Ingram, said: "We are now AWS-ready with both pre-sales and post-sales skills which means we can now offer our partners true multi-cloud services and support enabling choice and flexibility for their end users."
The news comes on the heels of the distributor confirming the UK as a participating country in its Comet Competition, which takes place in Miami next year.
The Comet Competition is billed as the "only start-up challenge dedicated to helping B2B ISVs find commercial success for their technology and purpose-built for the IT channel".
Scott Murphy, Ingram Micro's cloud boss, stated: "I'm anticipating the biggest competition of its kind, and I'm proud that Ingram Micro Cloud is very much at the forefront of this new pathway to discovering new talent in the technology industry.
"We're looking to drive deeper relationships for our partners by creating an outlet for finding new best-of-breed technology solutions."
