Martin Hellawell joins Raspberry Pi as chairman

Channel veteran takes position at UK company and remains in Softcat role

Raspberry Pi has announced Martin Hellawell as its new chairman of the board with immediate effect.

Hellawell is a UK channel veteran having helmed one of the UK's biggest resellers, Softcat, from 2007 to 2018 (he remains chairman there).

He led the company through a successful IPO and grew revenues from £57m to £672.3m.

Raspberry Pi welcomed Hellawell's second chairmanship today with a tweet:

Hellawell responded this afternoon simply saying that he is "delighted to be on board".

The UK vendor that produces credit-card sized computers was founded in 2008, in Cambridge. According to its founder and CEO Eben Upton, it was originally designed to help children learn about computer programming.

Upton has also since cited AI and IoT as key trends for the future of the firm.
