Tech Data merges software and cloud units to help partners transition from software licensing

Distributor also says it is boosting investment into new division to aid partners

Tech Data has merged its enterprise software and cloud units to help resellers transition away from traditional software licensing and towards cloud-based sales models.

The combined business will house vendors including Citrix, Microsoft, Veeam, Veritas and VMware.

Tech Data said it will also be boosting investment in the division to help resellers adopt cloud sales.

Simon Bennett, director of the business unit, said: "All enterprise software vendors are now transitioning to subscription models and our role is to make that journey as simple and streamlined as possible for our business partners and their customers.

"By bringing our software and cloud teams together we can make that transition easier and ensure that they deliver on their customer expectations, retain their existing customer base and ensure that they are well equipped and ready to bring on new customers and grow their sales.

"We are investing strongly in both to provide the specialist help they need to develop their capabilities and their sales with key vendors and ensure that Tech Data continues to be the channel partner of choice for enterprise software solutions and cloud services."

The newly combined unit will sit under Tech Data's Advanced Solutions brand.
