Which UK businesses have the most tech job vacancies?

IT job postings down 13 per cent from first quarter, according to trade association

A host of well-known companies top the list of UK employers with the most IT job vacancies, according to CompTIA.

The trade association named comms provider GCI, AWS, the NHS, British Sky Broadcasting Group and Square One Group as the organisations with the most IT job postings in the second quarter of this year.

UK employers posted an estimated 141,395 job openings for IT positions in Q2, which reflected a 13 per cent quarter-on-quarter decline.

"This mirrors the downward direction for all job ads in the UK employment market this year compared with the highs of a year ago," said Amy Carrado, senior director of research and market intelligence at CompTIA.

"The diversity of employers with open IT positions demonstrates that the demand for tech talent extends well beyond technology companies to all sectors of the economy."

Software programmers and developers were the most sought after in the second quarter, with 50,329 vacancies for those roles.

Other positions with high demand include IT business analysts, architects and system designers, IT user support technicians, IT and telecommunications professionals, IT operations technicians, and web designers and developers.

Graham Hunter, CompTIA's VP for skills and certification in Europe, said: "Clearly there is still solid market demand for fundamental technology skills in networking, security and technical support.

"These foundational skills must be in place to provide the management and support for current operations as well as the emerging technologies and innovations that are taking hold."
