MSPs set to flock to Paris for DattoCon

Vendor's flagship European event sees attendee numbers surge 60 per cent

Datto's flagship European event DattoCon Paris is set to become one of the largest channel-focused events on the continent as the vendor sees a huge uptick in attendees outside the UK.

The vendor's three-day event, which runs from 21 to 23 October, is expected to be attended by more than 750 channel delegates.

According to senior director of EMEA strategy Christian Nagele, the event's attendance has already risen by 60 per cent on the previous year.

Nagele said the increase is largely thanks to a threefold jump in entries from non-UK speaking countries - a testament to the success of Datto's expansion across Europe over the course of the year.

"The key thing is, 90 per cent of the people who attended last year are also coming this year," said Nagele. "That speaks volumes about the quality and value of the event."

Held in Barcelona last year, this year DattoCon will move to Paris at the Palais des Congrés de Paris.

Although Paris simply presents a "change of scene" from last year, Nagele said the new location is also a strategic one, as France has been an area of particular geographic growth for Datto.

"[Paris] is accessible to northern Europe and the UK, but also because France remains a very interesting and emerging region for us, and we are seeing a lot of interest from the region. So it just seemed logical to host our conference there," he said.

The commercial director explained that a large portion of delegates to Datto's annual conferences are founders and business owners who are often reluctant to be away from their business for several days.

With this in mind, Nagele said delivering valuable and worthwhile content at DattoCon Paris is essential.

"We know that stepping away for your business for three days is incredibly difficult. Founders and owners have to deal with everything in their business at once, from financial to legal to marketing. For us to justify three days away from their business is quite a big ask," he said.

"So I need to be able to look them in the eye and tell them that we truly believe from a personal perspective that the event will provide significant value in that three days and it will be a good use of their time. It has got to be right up there in the top three events in their calendars."

As well as providing a rare opportunity to network and share best practices with other leading MSPs, DattoCon Paris will be packed with practical forums and breakouts aimed to help MSPs and channel leaders improve how they go to market and grow their businesses.

From business strategy, hiring new staff and marketing to acquiring and being acquired, Nagele claims DattoCon will deliver genuinely useful content to its delegates, as well as hands-on training on Datto's products and an update on its strategic roadmap.
