New president in at Westcon International

Westcon International has announced the internal promotion of David Grant to President, four months after a business-wide restructure of operational units.

Grant (pictured) is currently serving as COO of the $3bn-revenue VAD, and will continue in that role in addition to being president.

The latest management change at Westcon comes four months after the New York-headquartered distributor rejigged its EMEA operations and made a series of senior appointments.

The distributor added two new layers to its EMEA business: collaboration and networking, and cybersecurity.

At the time, Westcon claimed its restructure and management appointments reflected the market's need for different ides of the business to receive "specific expert attention" and "dedicated resource".

Grant has been with the Group since 2007, and was formerly the CEO of Crane Telecommunications, an Apax-owned company which was acquired by Datatec (Westcon's owner).

Executive chairman of Westcon International, Jens Montanana, welcomed Grant's appointment, pointing to his previous senior positions within the firm.

"I would like to congratulate David on this promotion in recognition of his instrumental role in reshaping the business over the past two years."
