$150m-plus US VAR to launch in the UK

Donavan Hutchinson, who launched PCM in the UK, will head up the operation

US VAR Paragon Micro has revealed plans to launch in the UK, with former PCM boss Donavan Hutchinson (pictured) heading up the expansion.

The firm said it will launch its first subsidiary outside the US in April, with offices in Sheffield and London.

Paragon Micro has annual sales of $150m (£115m) and is a partner of vendors including HPE, Dell and Cisco

CEO Jeff Reimer said: "International expansion has long been part of our plan as it presents a tremendous growth opportunity for Paragon Micro given that a large percentage of the IT market is located outside the US.

"The UK is home to many international divisions of our major US clients. The opening of this office is in response to our US customers who conduct business in Europe and require the same kind of IT hardware, software, and solutions - globally."

Hutchinson joins Paragon Micro having left PCM soon after its acquisition by Insight.

He launched the PCM UK business in 2017, with the operation reporting revenue of $62m for the year ending 31 December 2018, according to reports filed with the stock exchange by the PCM parent company.

Hutchinson said: "I'm excited to join the Paragon Micro team as part of this expansion into the UK and equally excited to introduce our world-class approach to providing hardware, software and solutions to new clients.

"We welcome the opportunity to forge new partnerships with companies using Paragon Micro's blueprint of being the best IT provider in the industry that has driven exceptional success in the US."
