Insight UK boss lands EMEA top job

Emma de Sousa will replace Wolfgang Ebermann as EMEA president on 1 January 2021

Insight UK managing director Emma de Sousa is being handed the keys to the reseller's entire $1.5bn-revenue EMEA business.

She will be crowned EMEA president on 1 January 2021 after the current holder of that role, Wolfgang Ebermann, steps down.

De Sousa has been UK MD since 2009. In 2017 she was handed additional responsibilities as vice president of marketing EMEA.

"I am proud to lead an organisation that focuses so heavily on its people and culture," de Sousa said in a statement.

"Insight is on a phenomenal journey to provide our clients Intelligent Technology solutions for business transformation and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the EMEA team as we continue that," said Ms. de Sousa.

Insight's EMEA business generated $1.5bn of US-based Insight's $7.7bn total revenues last year.

Sales on this side of the Atlantic rose five per cent in local currencies as strong growth with midmarket clients across the region was partially offset by lower volume of large clients in our UK operation.

In a statement, Insight said Ebermann has been "instrumental in driving the transformation of Insight in Europe", claiming his efforts sparked an average of 25 per cent growth in annual earnings from operations over the last five years.

He will continue as president of EMEA - and assist with the leadership transition - until 31 December 2020.

"Succession planning and onboarding senior leaders is crucial for maintaining the strong momentum in our business," said Insight CEO Ken Lamneck.

The news comes as Insight continues to integrate monster acquisition PCM. Last month, the giant completed the onboarding of PCM's IT systems in EMEA.
