NetApp scoops up vendor Talon Storage
Storage vendor claims acquisition adds to cloud data services portfolio
NetApp has swooped on software-defined storage vendor Talon Storage, in a bid to grow its cloud data services portfolio.
Founded in the US in New Jersey, Talon Storage is a cloud storage company with international offices in the Netherlands, India and Australia.
According to NetApp, Talon's software, which includes a cloud data services product called TalonFAST, will be integrated into several NetApp product lines including NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP, Cloud Volumes Service and Azure NetApp Files.
NetApp describes Talon Storage as a leader in next generation software-defined storage solutions. It claims the acquisition will help its customers centralise their data in the cloud.
"We are excited about the potential that lies in front of this new combined team to deliver complete solutions for primary workloads," said Anthony Lye, senior vice president and general manager of NetApp's Cloud Data Services business unit.
"We share the same vision as the team did at Talon - a unified footprint of unstructured data that all users access seamlessly, regardless of where in the world they are, as if all users and data were in the same physical location. And to do this without impacting workflow, user experience - and at a lower cost."
