Cognizant creates new Workday unit with enterprise app partner acquisition

US services giant bolsters cloud management portfolio with the acquisition of one of the largest Workday partners

Acquisitive IT services giant Cognizant has made its fourth acquisition of the year snapping up Workday partner Collaborative Solutions.

Based in Washington, D.C., the cloud applications consultancy has more than 1,000 employees in the US, Australia, Canada, and the UK.

It specialises in Workday enterprise applications for finance and human resources.

Cognizant said that acquiring one of the largest Workday services partners will help bolster its cloud management portfolio in those two verticals, and establish a new Workday practice unit for the company.

"Running core applications in the cloud has never been more important," said Cognizant president of digital systems and technology, Greg Hyttenrauch.

"Workday is a critical enterprise cloud suite that gives finance, HR and other functions greater resiliency and agility. Collaborative Solutions, with its rich expertise and leading position in the Workday ecosystem, expands our opportunity in cloud by establishing a new practice area in this large, fast-growing market.

"Our combined strengths in cloud strategy and enablement will differentiate our offering, positioning us to provide full support to clients throughout their digital transformation journey."

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2020.

Financial details were not disclosed.

In February, Cognizant also bought one of the top Salesforce partners in France as it scales up its international cloud business in EMEA.

Earlier this year, Cognizant, ranked 14th in CPI's ranking of the top 35 cloud providers across Europe.
