Exertis retires Hammer name

Hammer business, acquired in 2016, becomes Exertis Enterprise

Exertis has retired the Hammer branding four years after acquiring the storage VAD.

Hammer, which becomes Exertis Enterprise, continued operating as an independent subsidiary of Exertis until 2018, when it was merged with its parent company's enterprise division.

James Ward, who stayed on as managing director after the business was acquired, said: "Having consolidated the businesses over a period of time, it's now time to rebrand the division.

"We are rightly proud of Hammer's history and its huge success which we're honoured to have achieved.

"Hammer's ethos and value-add approach, which have remained unchanged for nearly 30 years, provide a solid framework for Exertis Enterprise. Our specialist focus, together with our flexible, innovative and consultative nature, will remain unchanged as we continue to drive mutual growth for our vendors and resellers."

Last year the business pushed further into mainland Europe, establishing a presence in Spain via a Barcelona office.

It has further bases in the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Exertis said it has also integrated its Benelux-focused networking business, Exertis Go Connect, into the wider enterprise division.

The distie added that it has extended its logistics and warehouse facilities in the region.
