Computacenter's H1 'substantially ahead' of last year
Firm says demand for services has soared
Computacenter has said its H1 was "substantially ahead" of the same period last year, with demand for services soaring throughout the pandemic.
The channel giant did not reveal any numbers, but said it believes that the full year will be one of "material progress for Computacenter, following a record-breaking 2019".
"Whilst most of our industrial clients have been quiet, elsewhere there has been a surge in demand for IT equipment to enable home working which has considerably helped our performance, but this is only part of the story," it said in a statement to the stock exchange.
"Computacenter's customers have turned to our Services offerings and the skills of our people at what has been a challenging and demanding time for corporate IT functions.
"This is testament to the strength of our customer base; the relationships we have with those customers; and the value we deliver to them."
Computacenter said that most of its industrial clients have been quiet, but said it has seen "a surge" in demand for IT equipment as many employees started to work remotely.
It added that it is more optimistic about the second half of its financial year than when it released its Q1 trading update back in April.
Computacenter's share price rose 11 per cent following the announcement, taking it back to the same level as pre-lockdown.
