Bill Kelleher moves to chairman role

IBM UK has appointed Sreeram Visvanathan as its new chief executive, with incumbent Bill Kelleher becoming chairman.

Visvanathan and has been in his current role of global managing director of the government, education healthcare and life sciences since 2017.

Marta Martinez Alonso, EMEA general manager at IBM, said: "I would like to thank Bill for his leadership in the United Kingdom and Ireland over the last three years.

"He is a respected and well-liked leader who I look forward to continued engagement with in his role as Chairman."

The change in leadership will take effect on 1 September.

Visvanathan joined IBM in 2002 as part of Big Blue's acquisition of PwC Consulting.

He said: "We are at a pivotal point in shaping the future of our industry. The current global crisis is accelerating disruption and the need for digital transformation at scale and pace.

"It is a real privilege to be appointed into this role and I am personally excited to be returning to the UK.

"Through my existing work with clients in the UK Public Sector, I am familiar with the market and look forward to making new connections as we work together to continue to navigate the global pandemic."
