Over 5,500 suppliers get nod for G-Cloud 12
Latest iteration of government's cloud framework will run until September 2021
Over 5,500 suppliers have been awarded a place on G-Cloud 12 - up from the 4,200 listed on G-Cloud 11 - and over 38,000 services are available on it, marking a 25 per cent growth on what was available on its predecessor.
The framework was due to be announced earlier this year but was delayed to allow suppliers and customers to respond to the then-unfolding coronavirus crisis. Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has previously stated that because of the pandemic G-Cloud 11 would be extended until 1 April 2021. CRN has contacted it for clarification on this matter.
The latest version of the framework will run from 28 September 2020 to 27 September 2021 and comprises 3 Lots: hosting, software and support.
Services offered on G-Cloud 11 will no longer appear on the Digital Marketplace, though it will only expire on 18 December 2020 to allow incomplete procurements to be finalised.
"Over 91 per cent of the overall suppliers on G-Cloud 12 are small and medium-sized enterprises," stated CCS.
"Of the suppliers new to G-Cloud 12, over 80 per cent are micro and small organisations, demonstrating that G-Cloud continues to offer opportunities to suppliers of all sizes."
Core Technology Systems stated that it is in the top four per cent of SME providers based on revenue and has remained in the top eight per cent of suppliers since 2012.
"The G-Cloud framework is fundamental to our ability to deliver value for money IT products and services to the public sector," stated Paul Saer, Core's head of public sector.
"It ensures our long-standing relationship with CCS continues at full strength as we develop our solutions to improve business outcomes."
Neil Muller, CEO of newly-listed supplier Timico, added: "As a recognised government-approved supplier, G-Cloud has reinforced our expertise and credibility within the sector, providing us with a platform to bolster our reach and gain greater traction, during this challenging time.
"We know that through the implementation of successful cloud solutions, we can maximise value, while ensuring the public sector remains connected, productive and secure. We look forward to what the coming months bring."
G-Cloud has generated almost £6bn in contracts since it began in 2012.
