Six best moments from the CRN 2020 Channel Awards

It may not have been the face-to-face shindig we're accustomed to, but Colin Murray kept the belly laughs coming at the virtual awards earlier this month. Here we relive the highlights

CRN brought the party to the channel in our first ever virtual Channel Awards. Hosted by Colin Murray, the one-off digital show was packed full of mini-documentaries and interviews with top industry figures including Sir Peter Rigby and Mike Norris. You can relive the full show above. To whet your appetite, here are six bite-sized highlights from the show.

‘Don't touch anybody'

Host Colin Murray kicked off the evening by serenading the audience with a late 60s classic whose lyrics haven't stood the test of Covid.

Sir Peter's predictions

It's been a remarkable year for the tech sector, but sometimes it's hard to make sense of it all. Who better to give their perspective on how recent events are shaping the industry than SCC founder Sir Peter Rigby, who gave a brief interview exclusively for the awards.

The reseller bosses who bounced back from Covid

The uplifting story of a security VAR whose management team have bounced back after being struck down by Covid provided one of the evening's highlights.

Saepio were - incidentally - the Channel Awards' reigning Rising Star reseller of the year.

Colin's one-bottle rule

Host Colin Murray was keen to hammer home the importance of social distancing among the audience, but still managed to find a nifty way around one particular rule.

Best dressers

Adding to the buzz of the live event, Murray gave regular updates on viewers' tweets, paying special attention to what they were eating and drinking, how they were watching the awards - and - what they were wearing.

Mike Norris: ‘I'm a good Essex boy'

Computacenter's CEO was handed a special award for his services to the industry. He opened up on his journey to the top and highlights of the year during an interview we recorded at Computacenter's Hatfield HQ especially for the awards.
