Don't kick the Brexit can down the road; act now - experts warn

Five key points for preparing for Brexit

In the panel discussion below in association with Westcoast, hear from vendors, distributors and global logistics experts on vital issues such as taxation, tarriffs, the Irish border and how goods will be kept flowing into the UK, plus much more.

Sitting on the panel were: Alex Tatham, Westcoast managing director, Sue Keywood customer service and operations manager at Westcoast, Dionne Redpath sales and branch network director at Europa Worldwide, Pat Kickham joint managing director of Datapac and Nigel Dunn, managing director EMEA North at Jabra.

Five key takeaways from the discussion:

1. Don't kick the can down the road - start getting the paperwork and everything in order now. Don't leave it too late to do your research.

2. The onus is on everybody to make sure they are prepared for 1 January. There will be a grace period in the first few months of next year as paperwork is sorted out, but businesses need to be prepared. Don't leave anything to chance.

3. Appoint a dedicated Brexit go-to expert within your team - that way you can keep on top of all the developments by having one person handling the whole thing

4. For resellers, the key is being agile and remaining engaged with vendors and customers

5. Ask for advice if needed and don't worry about things you can't control, focus on things you can control.
