HPE and Cisco partner adds 30 to its staff after successful 2020

Surrey-based Comtec Enterprises recruits new faces to sales and engineering roles

Comtec Enterprises has recruited 30 new heads to its workforce as a result of "promising" growth opportunities.

The Surrey-based MSP - which counts HPE, Datto, Cisco and Veeam among its vendor partners - said that the new junior hires would primarily be working as trainees service engineers in its 24/7 service centre and in its sales and pre-sales department.

The new hires are part of the government's Kickstart Scheme which provides funding to employers to create job placements for young people on Universal Credit.

"2020 has been a very challenging year for many of our customers, but by working hard and offering creative and flexible IT services we have been fortunate enough to grow during this period and see great potential in supporting the post-COVID recovery," said Nick Claxson, CEO of Comtec Enterprises.

"I set up Comtec as a teenager more than 20 years ago and believe IT is a great career path to start out, develop skills and be successful. That's why we want to fuel future growth by training up our own people - all under the age of 24 - in partnership with the government Kickstart Scheme.

"This is positive news for our customers as we further assist their adoption of technology to address future business challenges, but also a fantastic opportunity for each of these 30 talented young people to excel."

The positions are all a minimum of six-months in duration with the chance to progress into a full-time position from next summer onwards. They have been created as a result of growth opportunities in the MSP's datacentre, infrastructure and communications divisions and the new hires are set to assume their roles in the next few months.

"We've designed the training and support package to allow both the service engineers and the salespeople to get the most from the opportunity, and drive value into our business too," Claxson added.

"The engineers will be getting fantastic, transferable skills and hands-on experience in an area with high demand for talent. The salespeople will also accumulate skills in customer-facing roles, and be able to access the same success-based commissions as senior colleagues."
