AIM-listed Restore acquires CDL as it ramps up channel footprint

Runcorn-based CDL attractive purchase for its processing centre and concentration on channel growth, according to tech provider

IT asset and disposition (ITAD) firm Restore Technology has acquired Computer Disposals Ltd (CDL) as it looks to grow its channel footprint.

Restore Technology is the ITAD wing of AIM-listed tech provider Restore plc and it now claims that it is the largest and fastest-growing IT recycling and ITAD business in the UK following the acquisition of CDL.

Runcorn-based CDL has "one of the most advanced" processing centres in Europe, which handles hundreds of thousands of items a year, according to Restore. It has both direct and indirect relationships with customers, with the channel being a "key" strategic growth area for the business. It has a headcount of over 80, who will be integrated into Restore Technology throughout this year.

The services now provided by the merged businesses include secure data destruction, IT recycling, on-site IT destruction, server and datacentre relocation and IT asset management.

"CDL is one of the most respected operators in the market and after several years of discussions we are delighted that they have decided to become part of our fast-growing company," stated Charles Bligh, CEO of Restore plc.

"Restore Technology is now comfortably the UK market leader in the recycling of IT assets and with the addition of a major new site in the North West, we have increased our scale and created greater opportunity to grow, both organically and with additional acquisitions in the future."

Last year, Restore reported that there were "significant" M&A opportunities in the market as companies were looking to sell due to uncertainty around proposed capital gains tax reform.
