Citrix promotes Sweeney to UK and Ireland VP role

Predecessor Darren Fields promoted to EMEA cloud networking position

Citrix has promoted Mark Sweeney to the role of regional VP for its UK and Ireland business.

Sweeney has been with Citrix for more than 20 years and most recently led its professional services and customer success business in the Americas.

He previously led Citrix's worldwide professional services business.

Sweeney takes over from Darren Fields who takes a new role as EMEA vice president of cloud networking at the vendor.

The new UK and Ireland boss will report in to Senecal de Fonseca who leads Citrix's northern European business.

"As we work towards the UK and Ireland's recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, Citrix remains committed to delivering the future of work for its customers," said Sweeney.

"As they seek to emerge from the crisis stronger and more agile than before, I'm looking forward to helping Citrix customers build and implement innovative cloud strategies, accelerate their digital transformation, power greater productivity, and support staff by continuing to improve the employee experience."

Senecal de Fonseca added: "Mark's experience, expertise and commitment to Citrix will provide invaluable support and insight for our customers in the UK and Ireland.

"It is vital that we are able to meet customers wherever they may be on their transition to the cloud and adopting digital workspace strategies, supporting them in the delivery of a consistent and secure work experience that enables employees to perform at their best wherever work needs to get done. I am excited and confident in Mark's ability to drive the business forward and help our customers deliver for their organisations."

Citrix made a major acquisition this month, snapping up work management platform Wrike for $2.2bn. Citrix claims the deal will boost its cloud strategy and become a complete SaaS-based work platform.

It came as Citrix reported $810m revenue in Q4, while full-year sales hit $3.24bn.
