HP launches integrated PC and print security offering

HP Wolf Security will be one of the “key messages” to grow the UK channel over the coming years, claims UK and Ireland channel boss Neil Sawyer

HP has launched an integrated PC and print security offering which its UK and Ireland channel boss, Neil Sawyer, claims will be a key factor in growing its channel over the coming years.

Named HP Wolf Security, the new security offering brings together the vendor's PC and managed print security portfolios.

The new offering includes HP Wolf Security for Business - its portfolio of "hardware-enforced" security features that will come with every business PC purchase.

The new integrated offering also includes devices, software and services under HP Wolf Pro Security (for small to mid-sized businesses) and HP World Enterprise Security (for enterprises and government).

The vendor has also added Sure Access Enterprise to the HP Wolf Enterprise Security portfolio which defends mission-critical applications from cyber threats.

Small and medium-sized businesses will meanwhile have access to the HP Wolf Pro Security Edition platform which includes features such as threat containment, malware prevention and identity protection.

HP Wolf Essential Security will be included with HP+ smart printers providing 24-7 built-in security, HP claims.

Speaking to CRN, HP's UK and Ireland channel boss, Neil Sawyer, said the new security offering will be a key message in growing its UK channel over the coming years.

"We're really arming our partners for success around this key topic," he said.

"We see the evolution of device as-a-service which allows our partners to take this beyond a new method of paying for equipment and actually turning that into a value-added proposition that's going to continually monitor devices using HP's proactive security software that we've invested in and partners have access to.

"They can then integrate that into their own proposition for service delivery so they can build a much bigger menu or portfolio of things to deliver to their customers - which of course adds value to their business but also to their customer relationship and stickiness as well."

HP published its Blurred Lines & Blindspots report alongside the launch of HP Wolf Security. The report shows that the global volume of cyberattacks has increased by 238 per cent during the Covid pandemic as hackers exploit a shift to home working.

HP also adds that 91 per cent of ITDMs now spend more time on endpoint security than they did two years ago.

"We all recognise the world of work has fundamentally changed whether that's on a permanent basis or in the short term. What we're seeing in many industries our customers work in - let's say financial services - is that actually the workforce of their customers is never going to go back to normal and end point security outside of the secure office network will need us to be more considerate as an industry in how we secure devices - not just from a software point of view but also in terms of the BIOS level security and proactive management software we manage," added Sawyer.
